End of Summer

After our trip to Maryland, it's hard to believe that we could have any more fun, but we did.  On August 17th we had the opportunity to go to President Monson's Birthday Celebration at the Conference Center.
We weren't sure how Natalee would do with it, but she loved it.  They had special guests that were amazing singers and the Tabernacle Choir performed too. The songs were all selections from Broadway shows, and our favorites were "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables and "Seventy-Six Trombones" from The Music Man.

We got to spend a few more days with Bennett and Libby while they were here for their grandma's funeral. Grandma and Grandpa Dean have a new resident at their house - a bat living in the grape vines on the side of the house.

We finally made it to The Disney Store at City Creek. Natalee was in pink, sparkly, Mickey Mouse heaven.
She said it was just like going to Disneyland and when I disagreed she clarified saying that it was just like a gift shop at Disneyland.  That I was able to agree with.

On Tuesday the 28th of August, I had to go to work. Natalee had to come with me and she was promised a big surprise in exchange.  Behind the hospital where I work is an Aquatic Center, which is pretty cool and really cheap.  I thought she'd love it!  After work we went over, just to find that (despite what the website said) they were closed.  It was so disappointing!  Then we looked through our coupon book and found another Aquatic Center in Salt Lake. We called and they were open, so we went over.  They were open, but not for swimming unless you wanted to do laps.  So again, we were disappointed.  The lady at the desk suggested that we go to Liberty Park because their pool might still be open.  We drove to Liberty Park and their pool was not open.  By this time, we were about to give up. However, Liberty Park also has a splash pad, so I asked if that would be OK.  They also have Tracy Aviary, so I told Natalee that we could go to a bird zoo and then to a splash pad, and she decided that would be OK.
We bought our tickets and started looking at the map.  We found there was a bird show starting in one minute, so we hurried over to see it.  When we got sat down, I saw a girl that looked familiar and then I realized who it was.  It was Natalee's best friend's older sister.  We couldn't believe it.  She was there with her family and it was an amazing surprise after lots of disappointment.  We were able to spend the whole afternoon with them, exploring the Aviary and playing in the water.

I haven't posted anything about our garden this year because honestly, I'm kind of fed up with it.  We are in the process of growing a large pumpkin.  Here's the proof.  I'm really not sure what we're going to do with it.
Brigham City Temple Open House
We took Natalee and Nathan's mom to the Brigham City Temple Open House n Friday the 27th of September.  It was a really nice day, not too hot, and we had a wonderful afternoon walking through the temple and around the grounds.
Natalee was not so sure about these booties.  We've been to the Draper and Oquirrh Mountain Open Houses and never had to wear them before.  I think it looks like she's wearing Elf Mary Janes.  Anyway, about 10 minutes into the tour she told me she thought she'd be able to keep them on, which was good considering that she had to.

This is a really unique temple, with peach blossoms and beautiful paintings throughout.  We were so happy that we were able to go.
School started late for us this year.  Usually we start one of the last weeks in August, but this year it was the Tuesday after Labor Day.  We decided to have a fun day on our last day of summer vacation!

We took Terri to get pedicures to celebrate her birthday and back to school.

It was so funny to see Natalee in the pedicure chair.  I didn't adjust the massage for her before she sat down and they had it on so high that I was afraid she was going to be shot out of the seat.  The lady that did her's painted little flowers on her toes and Natalee decided that this might be a fun tradition.
We had lunch at Panda Express and ended the afternoon at Station Park in Farmington.
We got Gelato and ate it while we watched the fountains.  It was a perfect way to end our summer!

I just got my first pedicure. I didn't realize I was sitting in a massage chair until I had 5 minutes left. I was so annoyed! Also, it was super weird to sit there alone, listening to the southern ladies gossip. I felt so out of place. If I do it again, I'll definitely take a friend.
