One morning in October, I was innocently watching the morning news when a segment came on about a man who has dogs who do amazing jumps and tricks. He's also a rodeo clown and does his dog shows during the intermission of rodeo events. It so happened, the news story went on to say, that he was going to be at the Miniature Bull Riders National Championship to be held (in part) that evening in Ogden. Well, with Natalee's affinity for dogs, I thought she'd love to go and see it. I wasn't really paying attention to what the main event was. It's a rodeo event, I've been to dozens of rodeo events in my life, but never one with miniature bulls. Yes, I thought this was going to be people riding little bulls. Never did it occur to me that it was miniature people, namely CHILDREN, riding bulls. Some of them were THREE YEARS OLD! I honestly couldn't believe my eyes. It was a little horrifying. I started to think that the mothers on Toddlers and Tiaras aren’t the most horrible parents in the world. I mean, while a pageant for children is wrong, and teaches girls at a young age to place value on all the wrong things, these parents are letting their children engage in an activity that could literally kill them. However, the little boys rode (more commonly fell off instantly) the bulls they'd drawn and walked out of the arena like this was an every day thing and I guess for them it probably is. Oh, the dogs were great fun to watch, but the rest of it probably wasn't great for my blood pressure.
