Labor Day Camping Trip

We spent Labor Day weekend camping in a canyon above Antimony, UT. It was really secluded and quiet. We had to leave Nathan at home, but MarKey, Jon, Dallas, Bennett, Libby, Grandma and Grandpa were all able to come. It was a forest service campground, but unimproved, which meant no running water and no toilets. It was the first time I've ever really camped like this, and it might also be the last. However, isn't it BEAUTIFUL???
We had the best time just hanging out as a family. With no distractions it was very relaxing.

On Sunday we went to church in Anitmony. The kids enjoyed the very tiny primary. Right after I took this picture Bennett said, "That gonna be a really, really, funny picture, OK?" I noticed that he was pulling his ears out, so I guess it is kind of funny.
After church we played some games and went on a little walk. Grandpa caught a snake for the kids to play with. Awesome...

After our little walk with the family, Dallas took Natalee and I over to the other side of the river to see if we could catch some fish. Well, turns out, we could. Natalee caught three little trout and it w

Sadly, one of the little fish had swallowed the hook and he wasn't going to make it, so we decided to take him back for dinner. Grandma cooked it up and Natalee said it was the best fish ever.

We had a fire and made delicious schmoes.

On Monday m0rning we decided to do more fishing, but took everyone this time. Again we had to cross the river. Jon carried MarKey, who was carrying Libby. This hike was probably a little much for the children. Bennett and Natalee got tired of walking and Libby got tired of being carried.

It was all worth it when we found a place on the river with fish in it. Bennett got to catch his first fish and was really excited about it until he actually saw it. I think all the flipping and flopping was a little scary.
MarKey and Jon took their kids back to camp and the rest of us hiked a while longer and found more fishing spots. I think Natalee caught 4 additional fish this day. The fishing was seriously so great in this river.

After our hike/fishing trip, it was time to pack up and go home. We were sad that it was over, but very happy to be getting back to places with running water and useable bathrooms. We were also excited to get back to our daddy!!
