Yesterday afternoon Natalee and I went to a pumpkin patch for a hayride and pumpkin selection. She had a heck of a time trying to pick the best one. She had two criteria going in for the pumpkin she would take home.#1- It had to be "totally" orange. I bought one last week that had a little green on it. Apparently green isn't an acceptable color for a pumpkin.
#2- She had to be able to carry it by herself.
We went to the furthest corner from where the wagon dropped us off. I was pretty sure we'd be there until dusk, but then we found the perfect one.
Nope, this isn't it. This is the one she almost picked and she insisted that we take a picture so we'd have something to remember it by.
THIS is the one she picked. Now she'd picked it (and all it's orangeness) but would she be able to carry it....yes carry it by herself back half a mile to where the wagon would take us back to the parking lot. Natalee's not really known for her upper body strength so....
Here she is trying to lift it.
Still trying...
Using the "Roll it up your body" technique.
YES! Almost got it!
Then she dropped it and sat down to take a rest.
After resting for a minute she said, "Well Mommy, maybe you could carry it for just a little while."Indeed I could, and did, for the rest of the journey.
There is a woman in our Ward who hosts a Halloween Carnival every year in her yard. Natalee looks forward to it every year, and in fact points out her house (it's on the route to church) every time we pass it and says, "There it is, the Halloween house." Then she reminds me that we are going to the carnival, right? And I will wear my costume, right? This year when she saw that they had Halloween costumes in the store, she had to remind me that we needed to get one in time for the carnival.
