Are there times in your life that you just wish were on film? I had one this morning. Last night I had a church function and left Dad home with Natalee. After she went to bed last night, he told me they had "the best time" while I was gone. I thought this was great, you know, father/daughter bonding.
This morning she came in and started to tell me that she and daddy had "the best time ever" last night and that they played a new game. I am thinking this must have been some wonderful game for them to both think they had the best time ever. I asked what the game was and the rest of the conversation went a little something like this:
"It's really high, on the top shelf."
"What's it called?"
"I can't eemember, but you get money, lots of money. And there are little rectangle cards with words and you buy them. The more you get, the more you win."
"I see. What else?"
"There is a jail too, and if you go there, you lose turns"
This is where I caught on. He's teaching her to play MONOPOLY! Monopoly is Nathan's most favorite game ever, but he doesn't get to play it very often. Once or twice a year the two of us will play and I usually kick his behind, eventhough I have NO clue what I'm doing. So, I guess he thinks he's got a little Monopoly buddy now. Hmmmm, they're plotting against me.
Other cute tidbits:
-There are lots of men to be, like a dog, a cowboy and a cowboy hat.
-If you go to jail, you have to roll "snake eyes" to get out. Snake Eyes according to Nat is two 1's, 4's or 5's.
-There are little houses and hotels. If you get the most of these, you will really be the winner.
-There is free parking, but she can't remember what it does.

If I had ever known that Nathan liked Monopoly so much, we would have been kickin' your buns at this game way back when :-) I like it too, but it's hard to play sometimes because it can be such a long game! BTW...."snake eyes" is when you roll two 1s, not 4s or 5s....come on Nate, you're smarter than that!!!
My nephew is a Monopoly fan too. He's got all kinds of different themes of the game. He's even read a book on Monopoly strategy. He hadn't been beaten in a VERY LONG time. I forget the time frame but it was a LONG streak of wins. So I beat him. :) It was too funny. I don't know how to play either.
Monopoly is one of those games that we always begged our parents to play as kids but mom and dad rarely did because it took so long. :) What fun that Natalie enjoyed it so much.
Yes, I was pretty sure, based soley on the things taught to me in Guys and Dolls, that snake eyes is two ones. I think Nathan thinks that it's just any doubles. Oh Nathan....so silly.
I agree though, it's definantly a time committment, which is where my problem lies.
