We drove into DC and went to the zoo. It was hot!. I'd been there last summer and had the idea to park at the bottom and walk up, instead of coming in at the top and then being exhausted at the end of the day and having to climb back up. Oh I love it when I'm a genius.
We saw lots of animals. Here are some of them.
There's a baby cheetah in here....can you spot it?
This picture completely cracks me up. She was trying to get a reaction out of this bird and it was just staring her down like she was a crazy person. I guess in some ways, the bird isn't wrong.
After a few hours of walking, we decided to get some lunch. My word, the zoo food was EXPENSIVE. It would have cost over $40 to feed the three of us. So, we walked out of the zoo, across the street to a 7-11 and got probably the same quantity and quality of food for $5.75. Then we got yummy frozen yogurt too and didn't feel like we had to break the bank!
Then after buying some $.29 bottles of water, we went back to the zoo to see the stars of the show!
PANDA!!!
Natalee loved seeing the Panda bears. They were both on display and being active. We were happy that they were inside instead of outside because outside they are hard to spot. Natalee loved seeing the crate that brought the original Pandas from China. She loved exploring the whole Panda exhibit. At the end of the day she bought a little Panda stuffed toy and named it Mei Song.
