Be Our Guest

Bennett and Libby came to stay with us while their parents went to look for a house in Maryland.  We're so sad that they're moving, so having nearly a week with them all to ourselves was priceless!  The first day we put up the pool.  Bennett and Natalee were out in it when Libby woke up from her nap.  I told her, "We're going to go and get in the swimming pool" as I took off all her clothes and went downstairs.  I put her down to find her swimming suit, but she wasn't going to wait around for me.  She ran out the back door, streaking across the yard yelling, "TUB, TUB".  This was the first of many, many fun moments.

Bennett told me he was a "spaghetti eating machine!"  These little kids are pretty good eaters and generally try whatever is put in front of them.  So grateful!!
My favorite unofficial holiday fell while the kids were visiting us.  It was Dress Like a Cow day at
Chick-fil-a.  We dressed up the kids and went over for free kids meals.

Libby was convinced this Barbie toy was a little chair.  She tried to sit on it over and over again for nearly 30 minutes.  She's persistent!
One day when Libby woke up from her nap, Bennett said he could get her out of bed.  Instead of getting her out of bed, he climbed in with her.  Man, was she mad!!!
All the kids got sick while they stayed here.  Natalee was the last to get it, but that didn't stop Libby from wanting to cuddle with her.  It was really rotten that we didn't have the chance to do all the fun things we'd planned, but it made for some lazy days.
Can you guess the mess?  One day I heard Bennett huffing up the stairs and looked out on the landing just in time to see him trip and the container of Nestle Quick he was holding went flying.  Then there was chocolate drink powder everywhere.  He said, "Ah nuts!"  It was so funny I couldn't be mad.  And as a fun side note, every time I vacuum now, it smells wonderful!
 BEST BUDS!

Natalee loved having a sleepover for six nights in a row, as well as having two built in playmates.  We loved having Bennett and Libby come to stay!
Stuff I don't want to forget:
Natalee and Bennett were playing on the floor with Dolly and Natalee said, “Oh Dolly!  You’re breath is terrible.”  Bennett said, “Yeah your breast is terrible!”
~
One day Bennett asked for a peanut butter jelly sandwich with extra rock and roll. Then I asked if he wanted strawberry or grape jam and he said, “I want jelly…it’s like red goo.”
~
One day I found Bennett in the bathroom with a pen and a clothes pin.  I asked if he wanted to come out and have a snack and he said, “Um, no.  I am screwing in here.  I am a superhero who screws and saves the day!”
~
I got Bennett some Captain Crunch for breakfast he said, “I have this at my house too.” And I said, “that came from your house.”  And he said, “No it didn’t.  You’re funny Shilo.”
~
One day we were in Salt Lake and passed the park where the Farmer’s Market is.  Bennett said, “I know this place,” and I said, “Yeah, it’s where grandma and grandpa sell their meat” and he said, “No, it’s where we play water Basketball.”  I said, “What’s water basketball?” and he said, “You should ask my mom.  She’s the best water basketballer in the world.”
~
We were outside eating popsicles and Bennett brought me the sticks and said, “My mom says I don’t have to eat the sticks.”
~
We were in the pool and Bennett was being a T-Rex chasing Natalee, who was some other kind of dinosaur.  At one point he was trying to get around me and said, “Um, I need to get by you, big, fat, in the way Dinosaur.”  Lucky I don’t have low self esteem.
~
Libby kept calling me "Mommy" and I'd correct her and say, "No, Shilo." Then she started saying "Mommy Shio".  One day she called me mommy and Natalee Shilo.  It was confusing.
~
When we got MarKey and Jon from the Airport, Libby was the most excited of all.  She held MarKey's hand in the back seat for most of the ride, just to be sure she was still there.  M&J bought the kids some Webkinz presents.  They got a bracelet and a shirt for Natalee.  When they gave Nat the bracelet she said, "Thanks for thinking of me."  Then they gave her the shirt and she said, "Thanks for thinking of me twice."

I love things kids say, anytime you're having a bad day just pull up this post and it will put a smile on your face, how could it not?

"My mom says I don't have to eat the sticks" that's how you know she's a good mom.
