March Events

Natalee is still being very creative with her animals, and cracking us up constantly. One day after she'd gone to school I walked in to her room with laundry and found that she'd strung up one of her little dogs. It was too funny.

Natalee has taken to drawing zoo maps. I need to get one scanned or something so that I can put it up. Anyway, in March she took to drawing informational cards, like the ones you'd see next to the animal exhibit at the zoo.

One day Natalee was watching a show about Panda bears. The momma panda picked up her baby in her mouth and walked away with it. Natalee said, "That momma is carrying her baby in her mouth," to which Nathan replied, "Yes, that's how most animals carry their babies, because they don't have arms." A couple of minutes later Natalee said, "You know, crocodile moms would need to be really careful."

Natalee's speech problem makes for some entertaining interpretations of words. This morning she said, "Did it say no flash photography on Star Tours?" I said, "I don't remember" and she said, "I bet it did. It would be hard to frotag in there since it's 3-D."

I love eavesdropping on the conversations Nathan and Natalee have every night. A while ago he was telling her about how when she was a baby and they had to give her an IV they would put a special light on her arm and it would show them where the vein was. Natalee says, "Well, that sounds painful."

My dad is retired. That should be all the explanation this photo needs. One day we showed up to his house and he'd made one of these for all of us. It's a Gum Rack. He's so creative and it's entertaining to see what he comes up with.

And guess what? This happened:

Yeah, so what? It's a nine year old on a two wheeler, right? Well, she finally did it. After the bad crash (which wasn't all that bad) when she was 6, and a couple of years worth of trying to muster the courage to get back on the horse, she finally learned to ride on two wheels. We were pretty excited, and now she wants to ride all day every day. Too bad we've got that school thing to worry about.

MarKey and Jon had dinner with friends and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take Bennett and Libby out to eat. Miss Libby has a hollow leg when it comes to Sweet Tomatoes mac and cheese, but Bennett hardly ate anything because he's four.

(when I see this picture I'm not embarrassed to admit that I want to cry a little bit)

Later that night after dinner, I took Natalee and Bennett to Grandma Dean's for a sleepover and we went to church with her the next day. I'm so glad that Natalee has cousins that she loves so much and that love her right back!

And GUM RACK is hilarious, especially from a retired dad. Perfect, really.
