Random Things from Spring

Our neighbor broke her arm, which really doesn't affect us at all. However, one afternoon she got a delivery of these flowers, but she wasn't home, so they left them at our house. Natalee thought they were just the cutest thing she'd ever seen and really hoped that the neighbors had gone on vacation so that we could have them at our house. Sadly (for her) they came home later that night and we had to give them up.

Dolly had her 13th birthday in March which means that our dog has turned into a little old lady. They say that every year to a dog is 7 human years which means that she's 91 years old. She's had to get her teeth fixed, has become covered with these strange little bumps and has just slowed down in general. Most of the time she just sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. Here's a rare moment when she was awake and letting Natalee lounge by her side.

Natalee had a piano recital in May. We switched piano teachers and have been very happy with all that she's learned. She played two pieces and memorized them both. She did such a great job!

Farmer Bennett
One day in April we had the opportunity to take Bennett over night. Nathan has these sweet hats that he wears when he works in the yard. Bennett thought they were the most awesome thing ever and when he put one on, he was transformed into "Farmer Bennett" who is some sort of farming super hero. From what I could gather, Farmer Bennett can run very fast and can kick a ball very far.

Being a super Farmer Hero makes you very tired, and when you get tired, you have to lie down on the lawn for a break. Being a farmer is hard work.

Also in April Natalee's school held a fun run fundraiser. They had to run around the field at school two times. I really should have taken a picture of how big the field is. It might look like poor Natalee was last to finish, but in reality she finished in the top 5. You can see from the lack of kids behind her that she actually ran the whole way, while many of the kids walked a little here and there. It was a fun day and she was sure proud of her little self.
I was asked to make a bulletin board for Natalee's teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week. Her teacher is really in to Pirates, so I came up with a treasure theme, with the teacher being the treasure on the X. I had all the students tell me their favorite thing about the teacher and I put their picture with their quote on the board around the island. I thought it turned out pretty cute.
