Our 5K

A lady in my sister's Ward has a very rare and most likely incurable form of cancer. She's young and has a cute husband and is trying very hard to fight it, but the fight is expensive. My sister and some of her friends organized a 5k with a bake sale and silent auction. They managed to raise several thousand dollars and we were happy we could take part in the event.

So many local businesses gave merchandise for the event. The new Chick-fil-a in American Fork even sent out the cows to walk around and pose with kids. Then they gave us coupons for free sandwiches. Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE Chick-fil-a? Anyway, I couldn't get Bennett to look at the camera because he was too busy laughing and saying, "Girl Cow Chicken" to the cow.
Jon decided he was going to try to run the 5k (hooray Jon!) and MarKey was manning the silent auction, so we were stuck taking the children. They looked so cute all scrunched in the stroller.

After a little while Natalee decided she wanted to ride her scooter. Bennett decided he wanted to run. Long before we got to the half way mark (in fact, we were probably not even half way to half way) runners (or as I like to call them, healthy people) started coming back. We told Bennett to stay off the sidewalk and just run on the grass. He said, "Oh, the grass give me super powers." Then when we tried to get him off the grass he would decline saying that it would make him lose his super powers. We think Natalee actually did a 10k because she had to keep coming back to get us.

So the best part of the story is how we finished last - DEAD LAST. We are fairly certain that some people turned around and didn't finish, but maybe that's just one of the lies we tell ourselves in order to feel better. Regardless it was a very fun day and now we all have these cool matching t-shirts.

So cool.

I love Chick-Fil-A too. It's seriously the best chicken in the world.
In Iowa and Brigham City, it was slim pickins - no good chicken anything.
Now that we live in the south, Chick-Fil-A's are on every corner and it makes me a little giddy. Embarrassing but true.

I am totally impressed, I have always wanted to be apart of a 5k.
