Natalee has wanted a Pillow Pet for a long time. In fact, I think she first started talking about wanting one just after last Christmas, in what begins Natalee's one year present drought. Needless to say, I was pretty tired of hearing about it. Anyway, her least favorite thing to do is spelling words. It's like torture. She'd better never work as a spy, for her captors could break her in a second by asking her to spell a "hard word" like, I don't know, park or something. Any word not animal related is a "hard word" but she seems to be able to sound out words like "elephant" or "dalmation" just fine. Ok, I'm done complaining. Last year in an effort to get her to do well on spelling, we had to bribe her. If she got 100% 10 times, she got a prize. This year's teacher doesn't share spelling test scores, so we just set a goal to do the spelling words with a happy attitude, and to do well in school. Her report card came and she's doing brilliantly in all subjects. (This turned into a long story) Anyway, we got her a pillow pet for achieving her goals, and she's madly in love with the thing. It's been her constant companion (except for school and the car) for 10 days now. So if anyone's thinking about that as a gift, we'd recommend it.
Natalee got a few glowsticks while trick-or-treating. She's been giving us light shows a few nights a week for the past two weeks. It's been entertaining, and nice that it gets dark earlier now so that we could see them. One night I got out the camera to capture the lights and she insisted that we put them on the blog. Sadly, we are out of glowsticks, but have a new fun activity if we can get some again.
