In a few short hours our Christmas Break will be history and we'll be back to the way things always are in January. Tomorrow I have to go grocery shopping for real food. We've had nothing but "Christmas Food" in our fridge for what seems like a month.
Here's all the fun we had:
We went swimming, as you do when it's 25 degrees outside.
We saw The Princess and the Frog
By the way, congrats to Disney on making a really great old school Disney movie. They did invent the formula, so you'd think they could do it again. I like the Pixar-ish computer generated animation as much as the next guy, but this movie made me so nostalgic for the way it used to be done. It was classic Disney: Beautiful Heroine, Talking Animals, Randomly Placed Songs, Handsome Prince and Very Bad Villain.
So fun!
We played in the snow and drank LOTS of hot cocoa.
On New Year's Eve Natalee and I went to the zoo. They didn't have all the animals out, but we got to see pleanty. Speaking of animals that weren't on display, there were several (like desert pigs that are from the Sahara) that weren't out. I am sure they are locked away somewhere safe, but the real puzzler was this:
This is where they usually keep the penguins. Where the heck are the penguins? Isn't this the kind of weather penguins like? It seemed like they should have been out. I think it's a conspiracy. We were in the right place at the right time and a zookeeper let Natalee feed Riley the giraffe. Apparently he likes apples and carrots and slobbering on people's hands.
It was a great day to be at the zoo because for the most part the animals were very active. The baby elephant is so stinkin cute and they had old Christmas Trees for all the beasts to chew on.

On New Year's Day we went to MarKey and Jon's house for brunch (which was served at lunch time) dinner and games. We played a few board games, but by far everyone most enjoyed playing Rock Band. I'm not sure that LipSweat is ready to hit the big time, but we're all getting pretty good. It even told me my singing was awesome. I knew that, but it's good to have a video game pat you on the back every now and again.
