This Time it's REALLY Broken

Two years ago on Father's Day, we had a flood courtesy of our washing machine. There was water all over the ground floor and about 3 feet in our crawl space. We got disaster cleanup to get the water out of the basement and filed a claim with our insurance. They sent someone out to see if I'd tampered with the washer in an effort to get a free floor out of them. The very competent (HA!) fix it man determined that I didn't tamper with it, although why you'd do that is a mystery to me. Anyway, he cleaned out the washer and said we were good to go. We almost replaced the washer at that time, but decided as long as it was working, which it was, we'd keep it. We really thought we might get another 6 months or so out of it, but it's been more than two years.
About 3 months ago, it stopped moving between cycles. I thought it was broken, but then I discovered that if I just hit it, that would kick something into gear and it would switch. Man, do I sound like a redneck or what? Anyway, that worked well until about three days ago when it quit spinning on the final cycle. I couldn't get it to work, despite the fact that I was pounding away on it.
Today I came home from getting Natalee at school. I started to fill the washer and went upstairs to get the rest of the load. I found a couple of things to do up stairs so it was about 30 minutes before I went back down. When I got downstairs, I could hear the washer running. I thought this was odd since it had been long enough that it would have been full. Well, it was full....a little too full. Water and soap were spilling out of the top. Fortunately we have a drain under the washer now, but that drain is just open in the crawl space. I screamed, "HOLY CRAP" and ran to the back porch where I had a tote that I use to get produce from the garden. Natalee is following behind me saying, "What is holy crap?" and I am frantically throwing open the crawl space access to get the tote down there to catch the water. When I finally got it down there, I showed Nat what had happened. She said, "Holy crap is right, mom!"
This is the washer after I bailed it out a little bit.
This is what it did in the crawl space before I got the tote down there.
In all, it wasn't a major disaster like last time, but one thing is for sure....This time the washer is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY broken.

Holy crap! I remember when that happened to you the first time. It was a much bigger deal.

Yea, a new washer, that is always good news. Make sure you find the one with the sorting, folding and ironing clothes cycle. They are really hard to find.
