Happy Mother's Day

I remember the moment that I became a mother.
I heard the words, "It's a girl," and nothing had ever sounded so wonderful.

I remember the first time I saw her. I had to be wheeled into the NICU in my bed because I couldn't walk. She was hooked up to so many things, but I didn't see any of that. I just saw a tiny baby that I knew was mine and thought she was the most beautiful thing ever.

I remember the first time I held her, knowing that this is what we'd been missing.

I remember the first time I knew she could see me. We stared at each other for so long. I think she knew that we belonged to each other.

I remember being so thankful.

Thankful for every look, every breath, every moment.

I still am.
