Las Vegas Blessing Weekend

Brett and Kae blessed their new baby last Sunday, which gave us a great excuse to have a small getaway to Las Vegas. Natalee loves their girls, so she was totally on board. The day before we left we found out that Grandma Camp and Lucille needed a one way ride to Aunt Beth's, so we took them along. Let me tell you, that Grandma is a great kid entertainer! We finally had to convince Natalee that it was time to put on the movie just to give the poor woman a rest. They also fell asleep on each other. Isn't that cute? We got them safely delivered and were on our way. Hircus Hircus
We got into town a few hours before we were supposed to meet for dinner, so we stopped at Circus Circus to let Natalee "gamble".
We managed to win a monkey playing the "camel race" game. Then we played other games and got a bunch of tickets that she used to trade for a dog. On this fishing game she managed to win 39 tickets in one shot. She was pretty amazed at that.
Alta Vista Park
What do kids love more than a park? Brett and Kae have a great one by their house. Lynda bought pizza for the group and we just let the kids run and unwind. We got to meet baby Jake for the first time. He is so cute and such a good baby!

Red Rock Canyon
Outside of Las Vegas just a few miles there is a beautiful canyon. We went out with a picnic on Satruday morning and had a blast. There were so many rocks for the kids to climb on and so many places to explore. We even saw a little wildlife. We did a small hike up to what we are told was a waterfall just a few weeks ago. It was so pretty. I highly recommend that anyone going to Vegas make this a part of their itinerary.

Swimming
Was it really warm enough to swim in Vegas last weekend?
NO!
Sweet fancy Moses it was cold!
However, cold doesn't seem to affect kids the same as adults, so they really wanted to go. Brett brought his 4 oldest over to our hotel for an hour of freezy fun.
We had a funny Word of Wisdom moment at the pool too. Since Natalee is very low on body fat, she gets shivery very fast. I went into the lobby to see if they had some hot cocoa, which they didn't. They did, however, have some herbal apple cinnamon tea which I thought she might think tasted like hot cider. So I made some up and took it out. She said, "Is this hot chocolate?" I said, "No, it's tea, like apple cider." She started crying and said, "I'm not supposed to have tea, it's so bad for my body!" I guess some of this teaching sinks in when we don't realize it.

The Bel-wog-eeo
My most favorite place to visit in Vegas is the Bellagio. I love the fountains and the atrium. Rodney and Kari's family wanted to go down and see it too, so we loaded in the van and braved the Saturday Night Strip. It took us a long time to actually park, but I thought it was worth it.
The atrium was goergous as usual, but we decided that it's even more impressive when the natural daytime light is coming in. We had a street magician entertain us while we were waiting for one of the fountain shows. The fountains were awesome. I always love to see them with people who've never seen them before. It's hard to describe just how cool it is.

Jake's Blessing

Finally, the event we came for in the first place. Isn't he a cute baby? Jake was given a beautiful blessing by his dad and we had a delicious lunch at Brett and Kae's afterwards. Then we had to leave and make the long trek home. We hope that next time we're able to stay a bit longer.

That is such a funny picture of everyone asleep in the backseat! Made me giggle. You have had quite the trips lately and I am jealous!

I am jealous also, but glad you get to have something to take pictures of, and write about. It is so fun to read them.

Wow! What a trip. I LOVE the sleeping pic in the car! My brother's family goes out to Red Rock all the time. They took us once at the end of winter. It was a lot of fun.
