Spirit of the Season and Movie Countdown

I am just getting ready to put up the tree. I waited until today since I've been crazy busy since Thursday. Ideally I'd have liked to have put it up Thrusday night, but I knew we wouldn't have enough time to decorate, so I've waited until today.
As some of you know, I can be a little grumpy during the holidays. I just hate how rushed it feels and how busy it gets. It doesn't give me time to really enjoy things, and I hate that.
The last couple of years I've tried to really, really plan ahead so that things don't get so rushed at the end. I've done pretty well for the most part except for last year when I found myself in Wal-Mart on Christmas Eve trying to buy ingredients for a pumpkin pie, then saying screw it and buying Sara Lee. After all, nobody doens't like Sara Lee.
A few weeks ago I sat down and made a list of all the presents I still needed to get. There weren't too many of them, which is great. Then I made a list of everything we eat and all the ingredients that go into everything I make. I've been buying a little each week and storing it away, which I think will make the coming weeks better and I won't have such sticker shock when I go shopping a few days before Christmas.
I've also got Nat's party all planned, we just need to make the invites and get them out. I'm actually very excited for her birthday this year. I'm glad I've gotten to this point because now is when she's going to start remembering. I think in many ways I've still never quite gotten over the fact that she wasn't supposed to be born in December, she was supposed to be born in March. I've always blamed my Christmas hysteria on her birthday, when really, it's not the birthday's fault. It's my fault. I need to plan better....always! This year I think I am pretty well planned and just feeling that way makes me happy!
Which brings me to the next point. I love Christmas Movies....probably to an unhealthy degree. Anyway, I was just trying to select a movie to watch while I put the tree up and it gave me an idea. I'm going to count down my favorite holiday movies over the next several days. I'll try to have a new one up every day, but I don't know if I'll make it or not. I'll put up my top 10 and why I like them so much. Maybe I've got one or two that you've never seen or maybe you've got some I haven't seen. I think it'll help me get even more excited....either that or put me further behind on my planning!

Hey Shilo-
I too have been trying to be "prepared" ahead of time so I can enjoy the holiday season. It always seems like I wait until we're out of school for Christmas break, then I only have a couple of days to get things ready. Maybe I can enjoy a little more now...I even have presents under the tree! (Although I'm not quite finished) We have 2 whole weeks of Christmas break this year, so maybe I'll make a trip to see you! Love ya!
