I’m not sure how many people will have seen this one, unless you grew up in The Dean household. Incidentally, I was talking to MarKey yesterday and she was able to correctly guess every movie on this list except for one. And she informed me that the one she didn’t guess isn’t a Christmas movie, so she shouldn’t have been penalized. Point is, since we grew up in the same house, apparently we’ve seen and love all the same movies. Isn’t that funny how things that happen when you’re a child stay with you?Anyway, on to the info…
Starring: Mary Steenburgen, Harry Dean Stanton, Gary Basaraba, Robbie Magwood, Elisabeth Harnois
Plot: Ginny Granger doesn’t believe in Christmas and she’s a pretty grumpy mom. Her husband has just lost his job, they’re being kicked out of their house and it’s Christmastime. There isn’t a lot to be happy about and Ginny is angry and sad about their situation and liking Christmas even less than usual. Then Gideon shows up. Gideon is a Christmas Angel and through a series of miraculous events, he shows Ginny that Christmas is more than just presents and stress. I don’t want to say much else because if you haven’t seen it, you should and I don’t want to wreck it.
Favorite Moments:
- Gideon getting Abbie’s letter out of the mailbox, returning it to her and telling her to give it to her mom
- Gideon fixing Abbie’s snowglobe
- Molly, Cal and Abbie accidentally flooding the bathroom
- Abbie going to the North Pole
- Taking the bike to Molly Monahan
- Ginny’s gift to Jack
Quotes:
I’m not going to be able to do direct quotes on this one. I don’t have it totally memorized like others on my list. My knowledge of movie lines is probably something that buggs people about me. Whenever I think about it I’m reminded of a time when Nathan and I were out to dinner and these people in the next booth were reciting lines from “The Holy Grail” (bad British accents and all) and I thought they were being so annoying. Then I remembered that my family has done the same thing, many a time. Anyway, I can’t do quotes, but don’t let that deter you from this movie. It should be on TV at some point in December. ABC Family or Hallmark usually run it. Check your listings and don’t miss it!
