My sweet husband will be 35 on Sunday. My playlist for the next couple of days will be an ode to the year he was born. Apparently there was a whole lotta lovin' goin' on and a whole lotta disco on the radio. I picked a few tunes I could stand. The #1 song on the day he was born was "Keep on Truckin" which I was not about to put on my playlist since it's 13 minutes long. However, there are some good ones there, if you like Donny Osmond like I know you all do.
Some other things that happened in 1973:
January 1 - CBS sold the New York Yankees to George Steinbrenner. The fake Steinbrenner remains one of Nathan's favorite fringe characters on Seinfeld. It was meant to be.
January 14 - Elvis Presley's televised concert in Hawaii was watched live by more than a billion people and the Miami Dolphins won the Super Bowl (that's Super Bowl 7!)
January 20 - Richard Nixon was inagruated to his 2nd term. I think we all know how that ended. January 22 - Roe vs. Wade decision.
January 27 - US invlovement in the Vietnam War ends.
March 23 - Watergate scandal begins.
April 3 - First cellular telephone call was made.
April 4 - The World Trade Center officially opened.
April 17 - Federal Express begins operations.
May 3 - Sears tower opens and becoms the worlds tallest building.
June 30 - Total Eclipse of the sun
August 1 - American Graffiti is relesed. This led to one of our favorite movie lines, "I lost my wife too, only her name wasn't Idy and it wasn't in a flood." Check it out.
September 20 - Billy Jean King defeats Bobby Riggs in the Battle of the Sexes Tennis Game.
October 20 - Sydney Opera House opens.
November 16 - NASA launches Skylab 4.
November 17 - Richard Nixon says "I am not a crook."
December 6 - Gerald Ford is sworn in as Vice President....I think we all know how this ends.
So there you have it. 1973 in a nutshell. Enjoy this little history lesson and you can say you learned something new today!

He's old!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATHAN. I AM SO GLAD SHILO WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET YOU. WE LOVE HAVING YOU IN OUR FAMILY.
Wow! Happy Birthday Nathan! I too am a big Seinfield fan, I love the one where Steinbrener (sp?) is wearing Lu Garrets pants.
COurse you're a big Seinfeld fan. Our favorite is where Steinbrenner is singing "Take me out to the Ball Game" and getting the words mixed up.
